Colouring the Earth
I completed a Fine Art degree in my early 20s and have taught art and photography in London schools for many years. Meanwhile…
I’ve searched for a way to produce my own work that’s authentic, purposeful and has an every day use. I love painting, but they just hang about on walls.
In the summer of 2019 I spent a week at Turning Earth in Leyton, hand building with clay. That was the first of many courses and eventually a wheel and kiln in my garden work space.

Using underglaze, coloured slips and brush on glazes I play with colour to produce vibrant and textured surfaces on my ceramic pieces. Wax resist and layering glazes adds to the unexpected effects.
Working with clay provides an opportunity for continual learning and practise. There is so much to find out.
